Dashboard Problems
Under Dashboard on the navigation bar, click Problems.
The Problems pane displays the problems detected in the last system analysis and allows you to view and run repairs.
Note: If you haven't recently run an analysis, a "System Analysis is Required" message will display. Click Analyze Now. (More on analyses.)
From the Problems pane, you can view detected problems, decide which ones you want to fix, and then run the applicable repairs and optimizations.
The Problems pane displays any detected problems along with a brief explanation of the risk and how a repair or optimization can help your computer.
Critical problems, shown in red, are detrimental to your computer's performance, security, or stability.
Other problems, shown in black, are not as severe, but may be reducing your computer's performance, security, or stability.
The Warning section provides recommendations that you may consider to improve your computer's performance, security, or stability.
You can run a one-click fix to run repairs using default settings, or you can run repairs individually with the settings that you specify.
To quickly make repairs and optimizations, use the Repair Selected or Repair All button at the top of the pane.
To repair all the problems listed, click Repair All.
To repair the problems you designate, select the check box next to each problem you want to fix and then click Repair Selected.
System Mechanic then automatically makes the repairs and optimizations using default settings.
Note: By default, a confirmation message displays prior to running repairs. You can turn these messages off by selecting the "Do not show this prompt again" check box on the message, or by making changes on the Dashboard tab of the Options window.
(See also Advanced options below.)
Click on the action button next to a problem, such as Repair or Optimize, and you then have the option to:
Resolve problem immediately. System Mechanic automatically makes the necessary repairs or optimizations using default settings.
Resolve problem using advanced options. Opens the System Mechanic tool that can perform the repairs or optimizations. Selecting this option allows you to configure settings to suit your preferences.
Note: For some problems (such as not having an antivirus program) a Repair button will not be available, but System Mechanic can still help by providing recommendations; click the More Info button to read recommendations from iolo.
Click the drop-down arrow on the action button next to a problem, such as Repair or Optimize, and you then can choose from up to four options (varies by problem):
Run action now. System Mechanic automatically makes the necessary repairs or optimizations using default settings.
Start wizard. Opens the System Mechanic tool that can perform the applicable repair or optimization. Selecting this option allows you to configure settings to suit your preferences.
Hide this problem/warning. Hidden problems and warnings are not displayed or included in System Mechanic's computations of system status. You can choose to hide a problem/warning for 1, 3, or 7 days, or choose to never have the issue tracked.
Note: Hidden problems/warnings can be re-displayed from the Dashboard tab of the Options window.
Automatically repair when detected. Many problems also have an "Automatically" check box. Select the check box if you want to have this problem automatically fixed when the problem is detected; this setup is also available on the Automated Tasks pane. Read more about Automated Tasks.
